Do Kwon arrested in Montenegro

The official said that Kwon was detained in Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro. The fraudster was found at the airport with allegedly «fake documents» and taken into custody on suspicion of fictitious identity.

«The Montenegrin police have detained a person suspected of being one of the most wanted fugitives, South Korean citizen Do Kwon, co-founder and CEO of the Singaporean company Terraform Labs,» Adzic wrote.

The Montenegrin authorities waited for several hours for official confirmation of Kwon’s identity. The country geographically borders Serbia, where the LUNA creator fled in December 2022. Since Serbia did not sign an extradition treaty with South Korea, the Terraform Labs founder lived quietly in Europe for almost 4 months. At the moment, the South Korean media outlet Yonhap has confirmed that the detainee in Podgorica is indeed Do Kwon.

The founder of Terraform Labs claimed that he was not «running away» and «not making efforts to hide,» so he continued to post actively on his Twitter for a long time. In early February, he once again assured the community that he had «never stolen money,» «never manipulated markets,» and «never received secret payments.» However, in February and March, Kwon’s activity on the platform was not observed.
