During an appearance on Fox News, the program’s host Laura Ingraham asked the politician if he would consider supporting the flagship crypto market, emphasizing its decentralized nature and the interest it has generated in society, especially among young people and African-American communities. The former US president recognized the growing popularity of digital assets.

Trump noted the independent nature of the main cryptocurrency, suggesting the potential need for regulation. He also stated that he has observed a growing trend towards the use of bitcoin for payments. «Many companies are already accepting Bitcoin. And I see more and more people wanting to pay with cryptocurrency,» he added. However, in the end, Trump still prefers traditional fiat money, particularly the dollar.

In January 2024, Donald Trump radically opposed the concept of the US developing its own digital currency (CBDC). The politician expressed concern about the threats that this could pose to the freedom of citizens, including potential spying on user transactions by the state.

Back in 2019, Trump made it clear that he did not support bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies. The former US president claimed that it was not real money but «based on air». In 2021, he reaffirmed his belief that the use of cryptocurrencies is fraught with risks and can be considered very dangerous.
