Study: 10% of Europeans use cryptocurrencies

12:09 am, May 25, 2022

A study released yesterday by the European Central Bank (ECB) showed that one in ten households in the eurozone has purchased crypto assets. At the same time, the number of rich cryptocurrency holders is inferior to small holders.

The 10% figure varies from six percent in France to fourteen percent in the Netherlands. Of these, approximately 37% of respondents reported having cryptocurrency worth up to 999 euros, 29% had between 1000 and 4999 euros, and 13% had between 5000 and 9999 euros.

«In general, young men and highly educated respondents were more likely to invest in crypto assets in the surveyed countries. In terms of financial literacy, respondents with either the highest or lowest level of financial literacy are more likely to own crypto assets,» the ECB said, somewhat ironically.
