Research: almost 40% of people want cryptocurrency legalization
The British newspaper The Economist published a study that showed that 37% of respondents expect bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies to be recognized as legal tender.
The Economist journalists asked 3000 people from economically developed countries (the United States, the United Kingdom, France, South Korea, Australia, Singapore) and developing countries (Brazil, Turkey, Vietnam, South Africa, and the Philippines) for their opinion on the crypto industry.
According to the results, 37% of respondents will support their country’s government in declaring cryptocurrency an official payment method, 43% will remain neutral, and only 18% are against such a decision.
The survey also touched on NFTs — more than 60% of respondents are considering buying, storing, or selling non-fungible tokens, and only 7% are against this idea.
Last month, a study by the European Central Bank revealed that 10% of Europeans use cryptocurrencies. The 10% figure varies from six percent in France to fourteen percent in the Netherlands.
