Research: one third of scientists believe in the death of humanity due to artificial intelligence
The development of AI can cause a «nuclear-level catastrophe». This is the opinion of 36% of computer scientists. The data is contained in a survey conducted by the AI Institute of Stanford University.
According to the report, almost three quarters of experts in natural language processing, a branch of computer science that develops AI, speak of rapid «revolutionary social changes» due to technology.
At the same time, the majority of experts report a positive impact of AI on the future of humanity, but still see risks in its development.
At the current rate of development, 57% of scientists admit the transition from generative AI to the development of artificial general intelligence, a system that can accurately imitate or even surpass the capabilities of the human brain.
