Eccentric who claims to have invented bitcoin is accused of plagiarizing his dissertation

Craig Wright is accused of plagiarizing his research paper for a doctoral degree.

Craig Wright is an Australian scientist who claims to be Satoshi Nakamoto, the inventor of Bitcoin. Wright was recently accused of plagiarizing most of his doctoral dissertation, which he defended at Charles Sturt University (CSU) in 2017.

An anonymous blogger, PaintedFrog, published an analysis comparing each paragraph of Wright’s dissertation to the alleged plagiarism. The plagiarism included published articles, books, a website, and a slideshow. «Wright didn’t even change the order of the sentences,» PaintedFrog emphasized.

«Substantial and intentional plagiarism is present in at least thirty pages of Wright’s dissertation, including almost all of Chapter 6. Wright plagiarized large portions of the content and reworded it to avoid automated tools for detecting stolen intellectual property. In most cases, he simply replaced every few words with synonyms.»

The blogger explained that many details were stolen «literally or almost literally». There were no citations or references to the materials used, and errors were copied from the source text without correction.

By the way, this is not the first time PaintedFrog has accused Wright of plagiarism. An anonymous person claims that in 2008, Wright stole the research of a master’s thesis of the University of Northumbria.

Earlier, the pseudo-founder of bitcoin won 1 pound in court against a blogger who exposed him.
