Experts warn that some fraudulent VPNs can mine bitcoin using victims' computers

11:03 pm, July 4, 2022

Some VPN services may contain viruses that are used by attackers to mine digital currency, or cryptocurrency mining, CorpSoft24 experts believe.

According to the experts, there are several signs that indicate that attackers have gained access to the device and are using it to mine cryptocurrencies. Among them are strong heating of the device, too fast discharge, and the consumption of a large amount of traffic.

The problem can affect both computer and mobile device owners. The main cause of the problem is the presence of viruses in unofficial clients of non-name VPN services. We recommend that you use only trusted VPN service providers, having previously studied reviews about them on the Internet.
