Meta expert predicts stability of bitcoin as Ethereum switches to green blockchain
Former Meta CEO David Marcus praised bitcoin and its capabilities ahead of the long-awaited Ethereum merger. In a recent tweet, Marcus suggested that «the September Merge update bodes well for BTC.» The former Meta employee emphasized that his statement was not a veiled attempt to «undermine» Ethereum:
«My statement is not really meant to destroy ETH. However, given the upcoming merger, I can’t help but feel great about building on #Bitcoin. The lack of uncertainty and predictability of a cryptocurrency for a very long time creates trust and stability.»
Marcus' commitment to BTC is well known. After leaving his position at Meta, Marcus almost immediately created a bitcoin payment startup called Lightspark. Marcus’s focus on bitcoin came amid the general collapse of the cryptocurrency market. However, the American entrepreneur and former president of PayPal decided to perceive the unfavorable climate in the cryptocurrency sphere as an additional opportunity.
Marcus was the initiator of Meta’s ambitious efforts to launch its own stablecoin. However, in 2022, Meta (Facebook) abandoned the project. Earlier, we wrote that a leading Ethereum developer named the exact time when the Ethereum network merger (Merge) will take place. We also talked about 5 false expectations from Ethereum’s transition to the green blockchain, which are discussed by experts.
