Elon Musk to add cryptocurrency support service to X platform
Elon Musk is planning to add a new feature called X Money to his X platform (formerly known as Twitter), which will include support for cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin BTC $93,174.86 Bitcoin -4.17% Market capitalization $1.85 trillion VOL. 24 hours $3.29 billion . Reportedly, X Money can be launched without obtaining permits in all US states, and the integration is scheduled for 2025.
Musk’s goal is to turn X into a universal application similar to China’s WeChat, which combines communications, payments, and other functions. The launch of this system could boost the price of Bitcoin, just as it did after the integration of cryptocurrencies on the PayPal platform in 2021. Bitcoin is currently hovering around the $ 100,000 mark, having reached an all-time high of $ 108,268 in December 2024.
Recently, Musk has drawn attention to cryptocurrencies due to his public actions, including changing his name to Kekius Maximus, which caused a surge in the value of the meme coin of the same name. Although his influence on the cryptocurrency market is obvious, the introduction of X Money could be an important step towards popularizing digital assets. The billionaire has even developed a plan to improve his own social network, which, according to his vision, will also work as a payment system for banking transactions.
