Epic Games to release the first NFT game in its store
After Steam decided to ban games that support non-fungible tokens and cryptocurrencies last October, Epic Games announced that it would remain open to offering such products in its store. Today, it was announced that the first NFT game on the Epic Games Store will be GRIT by Gala Games.
GRIT is a free-to-play battle royale shooter. GRIT players will be able to own, buy, resell, and use NFTs within the game. Gala Games promises to issue 10 thousand tokens that will allow adding unique customization elements to the characters. The initial distribution of tokens will take place in the format of box sales.
Following today’s announcement, Gala Games' own token (GALA) has risen in price by 8% and is ranked 80th in the CoinMarketCap ranking with a market capitalization of $ 540 million.
Earlier, Ubisoft announced plans to add NFTs to its games, but the initiative was sharply criticized by gamers.
