Over the past year, bitcoin-related wealth has grown by 55%, outpacing most other asset classes. More than half of the wealthy owners of virtual coins have gained wealth thanks to BTC, confirming the dominance of the first cryptocurrency in the sector.
Despite the rapid growth rate, the scale of cryptocurrency wealth remains relatively small. Of the world’s more than 60 million millionaires, only 0.4% owe their wealth to digital assets. At the same time, the global adoption of cryptocurrencies is expanding — about 600 million people, or one in 13 adults in the world, own digital assets, half of them bitcoin.
Henley & Partners representative Dominic Wolek emphasized the challenges for governments and regulators, noting that cryptocurrency wealth is not tied to geography. Singapore, Hong Kong, and the United States are leading the way in terms of infrastructure and innovation in the crypto sphere, while Monaco and the UAE are at the top of the ranking in terms of tax advantages.
