FBI does not let the head of the Celsius cryptocurrency platform out of the country

9:52 pm, June 27, 2022

Cryptocurrency investor and analyst Mike Alfred said that US law enforcement agencies did not allow Celsius CEO Alex Machinsky to leave the country for Israel.

Back in mid-June, the cryptocurrency lending platform Celsius froze withdrawals for its customers. Since then, Alex Mashinsky has remained silent and there are no signs that client funds will ever be unblocked. According to Mike Alfred on Twitter, Celsius CEO was planning to travel to Israel:

«Alex Mashinsky tried to leave the country this week through Morristown Airport, but authorities stopped him. It is unclear whether he was arrested or simply banned from leaving the country.»

The cryptocurrency community has taken a wait-and-see attitude and reacted relatively calmly to the news of the events surrounding Celsius. Some participants believe that Alfred has revealed another unsavory side of the company. As a reminder, in 2021, Israeli police arrested Celsius CFO Yaron Shalem as an accomplice of Singulariteam founder Moshe Hoge, accused of money laundering.
