Galaxy Digital experts predict bitcoin’s growth to $ 250,000

Alex Thorne, Head of Analytics at Galaxy Digital , predicts that the price of Bitcoin (BTC) could rise to $ 250,000 by the end of 2027, despite a possible chaotic period in 2026. In his post on the X platform, he noted that the coming years could be volatile for the cryptocurrency due to changing investor sentiment and general uncertainty in the financial markets.

According to Thorne, the Bitcoin options market now reflects an «extreme spread» of expectations — roughly equal chances of a price of $ 70,000 or $ 130,000 in June 2026, as well as $ 50,000 or $ 250,000 by the end of the same year. Such dynamics indicate the lack of a single forecast among investors and the growing volatility of the asset. He added that until BTC consolidates above the $ 100,000−105,000 level, the risks of further short-term decline remain high.

Thorne also noted that in 2025, there will be a gradual decrease in the long-term volatility of Bitcoin, which is due to the growth of profit generation programs based on the sale of options and the emergence of a more mature market structure. In his opinion, this is a sign that BTC is gradually moving from a «speculative asset» to an asset with characteristics typical of traditional financial instruments.

Despite the short-term fluctuations, the analyst believes that the institutional maturity and widespread adoption of Bitcoin is only growing. He does not rule out that in 2026, the cryptocurrency may demonstrate relative stability, even if its price fluctuates between $ 70,000 and $ 150,000. At the same time, the long-term outlook remains «decidedly optimistic.»

Thorne emphasized that the growing access of institutional investors, monetary policy easing, and the market’s need for «non-dollar» defensive assets create conditions for Bitcoin to strengthen its position as a hedge against inflation over the next two years, similar to gold. At the time of publication, analysts estimate the BTC rate at around $ 88,000.
