In a recent interview, Tim Cook, CEO of Apple Inc. said that augmented reality (AR) will become the biggest technology of the future. In his turn, Cook expressed skepticism about metaverse and virtual reality (VR) technologies.

«I believe that AR is a profound technology that will affect everything… It is difficult for us to imagine how we once lived without AR ,» Cook said.

Apple CEO explained why the corporation does not use the term «metaverse» — Cook is convinced that people do not have a full understanding of what it is. The term is usually used to describe platforms that use VR technology where people can interact with each other.

Cook believes that virtual reality is «something you can really immerse yourself in.» However, he is convinced that «the technology is useful for certain aspects of life, but not as an effective tool for communication.» The Apple CEO added that the company is developing several new products based on AR technology, including VR/AR headsets and augmented reality (AR) glasses.
