Mastercard CEO is confident that bitcoin will be used by the majority of the population
Michael Meehan, CEO of financial giant Mastercard, believes that it will take longer than expected for cryptocurrencies to become a common means of payment for society. According to the top manager, this should be preceded by an unambiguous understanding of the regulatory rules for operations with digital assets.
In a recent interview, Meebach emphasized that more and more investors want to delve into the cryptocurrency market, and Mastercard allows them to do so «as easily and, more importantly, as safely» as any competitor.
Meebach predicts that in the future, most consumers around the world will use bitcoin in their daily payments. However, according to the Mastercard CEO, this will not happen soon. «I believe that there is a long way to go before cryptocurrency becomes mainstream,» said Mr. Meehan.
According to the expert, the lack of comprehensive rules of conduct in the cryptocurrency industry is one of the most important reasons why the introduction of digital assets into people’s daily lives is so slow. Mibah is confident that many people simply do not know how to enter the cryptocurrency space and how to protect their digital savings.
In April, Mastercard started a partnership with Nexo to introduce the first cryptocurrency card for European residents. In August, the payment processing giant Binance-spivpraczyuye-z-mastercard-dlya-zapusku-platezhiv-u-kryptovalyuti/">partnered with Binance to launch a prepaid cryptocurrency card for Argentine consumers. The product allows Argentinians to pay bills with digital assets at every establishment that supports the Mastercard payment system.
The company’s latest feature was developed in the fall and is designed to help banks fight cryptocurrency fraud. The Crypto Secure service uses artificial intelligence algorithms to identify and stop suspicious transactions with crypto exchanges to which customers have added their payment cards to their accounts.
