The head of the Ministry of Digital Transformation wants to receive a salary in cryptocurrency

Mykhailo Fedorov, Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Digital Transformation, has spoken about his willingness to receive his salary in cryptocurrencies. Fedorov wants to become the first user of the Ukrainian CBDC and receive his salary in digital hryvnia. The Minister told journalists about this at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

According to the plans of the Ministry of Digital Transformation, Ukraine will launch its own state cryptocurrency (CBDC) in 2030. By that time, Fedorov plans to significantly reduce the circulation of conventional paper money. The innovations will make Ukraine one of the leaders in the cryptocurrency sphere, attracting the attention of potential investors, Mikhail Fedorov shared his point of view.

«Two weeks ago, I saw a pilot project of the Ukrainian e-hryvnia. I plan to become the first user of the e-hryvnia and receive my salary in CBDC,» said Fedorov. The Vice Prime Minister also emphasized Ukraine’s successful use of cryptocurrencies in fundraising for the Armed Forces. «With the support of the global crypto community, we have managed to facilitate and speed up the procurement of everything necessary for our Armed Forces,» emphasized Mykhailo Fedorov.

Thanks to the efforts of Mykhailo Fedorov, representatives of crypto funds and concerned investors, Ukraine has received more than $ 178 million in cryptocurrencies as of September 30. «Every helmet, bulletproof vest, and night vision device saves the lives of Ukrainian soldiers. It is worth noting that Mykhailo Fedorov was named one of the top 50 most influential people in the cryptocurrency industry in 2022 by CoinDesk. The Ukrainian was ranked 35th due to his active work in favor of the crypto and tech sectors of our country, even in times of war. «For having raised many millions in digital assets to protect Ukraine,» CoinDesk explained Fedorov’s selection.
