Google: people started to google the future of bitcoin en masse

The collapse of bitcoin (BTC) prices has revived new speculation about the demise of the leading cryptocurrency according to Google search trends.

on June 18, the number of Google searches for «bitcoin is dead» increased dramatically and probably reached the highest level ever recorded.

Google Trends tracks interest in search queries by assigning a score from 1 to 100 based on the total number of queries. The data is anonymized, categorized by topic, and aggregated based on user location.

«Bitcoin is dead» scored 100 points for the period from June 12 to June 18 based on preliminary data, which is shown by the dotted line. The last time the search query scored a similar number of points was in December 2017.

The Google search results reflect a peak of concern in the cryptocurrency markets after several weeks of falling asset prices.
