Google will provide Ukraine with a grant for training

12:41 pm, December 2, 2022

Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov announced a new stage in the cooperation between our country and the tech giant Google: the company will provide $ 2 million for digital education for Ukrainians and 50 thousand Google Workspace licenses for the Government.

«Google services have already become part of the infrastructure of the Ministry of Digital Transformation. Now other government agencies will be able to work faster, despite the shelling and constant threats of cyberattacks by Russians,» Fedorov wrote on his Telegram channel. Google’s cloud-based software provides personalized corporate plans that include collaboration tools such as Gmail, Calendar, Meet, Chat, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Presentations, Forms, and Sites.

The Google Workspace Business Starter plan costs $ 5.40 per month, Business Standard — $ 10.80, Business Plus — $ 18 (price per user). Thanks to the cooperation with Google, Ukrainian authorities will be able to use the Workspace service free of charge for a whole year.

As for the new grant from the tech giant, $ 2 million is planned to be spent on teaching Ukrainians digital literacy, bridging the digital divide, and scaling the Diia. Digital Education platform. «We will launch an English-language version of the portal with reskilling programs, personalized learning trajectories with AI elements, and employment recommendations,» Fedorov hopes that such actions will allow many Ukrainians to find a job in demand and contribute to the economic revival of the country.

Google is not the only tech giant that financially supports Ukraine. In early November, it became known that Microsoft would allocate $ 100 million to protect digital facilities, data centers, transfer information to cloud storage, and implement AI to recognize enemy equipment from drones. According to Microsoft President Brad Smith, Microsoft will provide all the technological support Ukraine needs in the war against the terrorist state.

It is worth noting that despite the war in Ukraine, our country is actively developing in all directions, and the digital and cryptocurrency sector is no exception. According to the plans of the Ministry of Digital Transformation, Ukraine will launch a national cryptocurrency (CBDC) in 2030. At the same time, Fedorov plans to significantly reduce the circulation of conventional paper money by that time.
