Google Names Five Cryptocurrencies Most Searched for in 2022

In 2022, bitcoin remained among the top searches on the Google search engine. However, the decreased demand in the market led to the fact that the search for «buy cryptocurrency,» according to Goggle Trends, showed the worst result since February 2020.

In 2022, cryptocurrency rates were hit hard by the tightening of Fed policy and the collapse of crypto platforms such as FTX, Terra, and Celsius Network. The total valuation of the cryptocurrency market fell by 70% over the year to $ 770 billion.

The finance portal DollarGeek collected data on the most googled cryptocurrencies. Bitcoin accounts for over 28 million searches (4.5 from the US). Dogecoin is in second place with 5.85 million searches worldwide. Shiba Inu is in third place with 4.43 million requests.

Interestingly, in the US, the Shiba Inu meme currency is ahead of DOGE in popularity (1.29 million versus 729,000 requests). The fourth place is taken by Ethereum (3.84 million requests worldwide). The top 5 cryptocurrencies are rounded out by Cardano, which was searched for about 1.47 million times.
