Hacker manages to steal over $ 600,000 in cryptocurrency from Telegram bot

The attacker managed to hack the popular Telegram bot Unibot. According to Lookonchain, the amount of user losses exceeded $ 600,000. Amid the news, the price of the native token of the UNIBOT project dropped by 36% at the moment.

On the morning of October 31, a hacker compromised a new Unibot router that was deployed just two days ago. The project team wrote about it. Beosin noted that the main reason for the hack was the introduction of CAll. The attacker gained access to user data and was able to transfer tokens that were approved for the project’s contracts.

According to Scopescan, the cybercriminal transferred the tokens from Unibot to his wallet and then exchanged the assets for Ethereum via decentralized exchanges, including Uniswap. The Unibot developers noted that they would reimburse all stolen funds. The total losses amounted to 305 ETH and 39,000 USDC (about $ 649,000).

At the time of writing, UNIBOT is trading at $ 44.64, down just 0.5% on the day and 32% on the week. An hour after the hack, UNIBOT’s price was down 36% to $ 32. According to Dune, 1300 unique addresses have been registered with Unibot over the past 90 days. The project ranks third in the popularity rating of Telegram bots.
