Hacker stole $ 4.6 million in cryptocurrency from a blockchain game

The developers of the blockchain game Super Sushi Samurai, which uses the Blast platform and is available via Telegram, announced the theft of $ 4.6 million during a cyberattack. The money was withdrawn by a white hacker who claimed that his actions were aimed at protecting users.

In their announcement, the Super Sushi Samurai (SSS) team reported the hack and that an investigation was underway.

After a while, it turned out that the white hacker had exploited a vulnerability that worked with money transfers and later asked the developers to contact him.

Coffee, a smart contract developer from Yuga Labs, said that the incident was caused by a flaw that allows users to double their tokens when they withdraw them from the game’s balance. Using the bug, the white hacker emptied liquid pools on decentralized exchanges, exchanging the game’s tokens for 1,310 WETH, which is estimated at $ 4.6 million.

Negotiations with the hacker led to Super Sushi Samurai hiring him as a technical consultant and paying him a fee of 5% of the withdrawn amount, as well as an additional 2.5% in SSS tokens.

Earlier we reported that the hacker who hacked the lending crypto platform Tender. fi and stole almost $ 1.6 million, returned the stolen funds for a reward. As part of the agreement, DeFi paid the programmer 6% of the cost of the exploit. Thus, the white hacker received 62.16 ETH or $ 97,000.
