Hackers created a realistic Elon Musk’s deepfake that advertised cryptocurrency on YouTube
A fake video in which Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk advertises a cryptocurrency scam is being circulated on YouTube. The realism of the video has caused surprise among the public and Musk himself.
On Sunday, X user DogeDesigner posted a video from a fake Tesla live event in which Musk allegedly invites viewers to deposit their cryptocurrency assets in exchange for twice the amount. A fake Elon Musk livestream promoting the cryptocurrency scam is currently being broadcast on YouTube, and is being watched by more than 35,000 people.
In the video, the fake Musk asks viewers to scan a QR code that leads to a prize distribution site. «On the site, you can deposit any amount in bitcoins without any registration. After that, you will receive double the amount of cryptocurrency you deposited,» the fake Musk said.
Elon Musk expressed surprise at what was happening. «Wow. That’s definitely not me,» Musk said after watching the video.
Last month, Hong Kong’s securities regulator warned the public about a fraudulent cryptocurrency trading platform called Quantum AI that uses Elon Musk’s dipshirts to lure victims.
Last year, amid the news of the launch of the world’s new most powerful space rocket, cryptocurrency fraudsters were able to conduct a fake cryptocurrency distribution on behalf of SpaceX owner Elon Musk. The incident occurred on November 18.
