Hackers leaked personal data of 100,000 users of the Binance cryptocurrency exchange to the darknet

3:14 pm, March 28, 2025

The data of more than 100,000 users of the leading crypto exchanges Binance and Gemini have been in the spotlight after hackers put them up for sale on the darknet. According to Binance-gemini-users-details/">Dark Web Informer’s, a user under the pseudonym AKM69 claimed to have a database with full names, emails, phone numbers, and even geolocation of mostly American customers. Some records also refer to users from Singapore and the United Kingdom.

It is noteworthy that this leak is not related to the internal systems of the exchanges. According to cyber experts, the data was collected through infected user devices, which once again emphasizes the danger of clicking on suspicious links or installing unreliable software. According to the images, almost 501 thousand devices were compromised, including 24 corporate accounts.

At the same time, another hacker under the nickname kiki88888 is selling information related to Binance accounts, which includes 132,744 lines — probably logins and passwords. Binance has faced similar threats before — last September, a darknet user claimed that 12.8 million records had been stolen. The exchange denied the leak after an internal investigation.

Against this backdrop, the world is growing increasingly concerned about security in the crypto space. For example, on March 21, the Australian Federal Police reported a large-scale fraud campaign that impersonated official exchanges, including Binance. A week before, X (Twitter) users recorded phishing attacks on behalf of Coinbase and Gemini. The fraudsters called for the creation of new crypto wallets with pre-generated passphrases, which allowed attackers to gain full control over users' assets.
