Hackers managed to hack Twitter of one of the world’s most popular cryptocurrency wallets

The official account of hardware cryptocurrency wallet manufacturer Trezor has posted several suspicious posts about presales on Solana (SOL). As it turned out, unknown hackers hacked Trezor’s profile on X (formerly Twitter).

The attackers managed to steal $ 8000. This was reported by blockchain security experts. ZachXBT, an online detective, was one of the first to notice the incident. He managed to take a screenshot of a fraudulent publication that talked about the pre-sale of the TRZR token for SOL. The post also contained links to the drains.

The attackers also mentioned the popular Slerf memecoin (SLERF) in the post. They probably did it to attract attention. Users followed the link to the airdrop and connected to the site, after which hackers attacked their wallets.

ZachXBT also added that the hackers stole $ 8000 from Trezor’s account on the Zapper platform. The attackers had to pay a commission of 25% of the transaction amount. Therefore, they were «lucky» to earn about $ 6000 from the hack.

The Trezor incident caused a wave of outrage in the crypto community. One of the users, X, criticized the hardware wallet manufacturer for not using two-factor authentication (2FA) in the account. The user urged the company to take security issues more seriously.

In January, Trezor warned users about the possible threat of phishing after a third-party partner’s security systems were hacked, which could have exposed the contact information of about 66,000 users. In May 2023, Unciphered was able to identify a vulnerability in the Trezor Model T hardware wallet and obtain the private key.
