Hacker returns over $ 7 million stolen in cryptocurrency
The cryptocurrency hacker who hacked the Crema Finance decentralized finance (DeFi) platform on the Solana blockchain has returned some of the stolen funds.
According to an agreement between the Solana team and the hacker, the latter returned 6064 ETH ($ 7 million) and 23,967 SOL ($ 870,000) to the platform, while keeping 45,455 SOL ($ 1.65 million) for himself. Solana has already called the attacker a white hacker and apparently does not plan to take the case to court.
A few days ago, a hacker managed to steal funds from the Crema Finance platform using instant loans on the platform: «They used three instructions: DepositFixTokenType, Claim, and WithdrawAllTokenTypes. First, they deposited tokens and then simultaneously used the Claim and WithdrawAllTokenTypes instructions, thus doubling the tokens on their wallet.»
Immediately after the attack, the Solana team began «negotiating» with the hacker by sending an onchain message offering a reward. Then the hacker responded and agreed to «talk.»
