Hacker hired by Twitter quits after a month on the job
George Hotz, the «geohot» hacker known for hacking into iPhones and PS3s, has terminated his internship at Twitter. Hotz announced the news on Tuesday evening. «I quit Twitter today. I appreciate the opportunity, but I don’t think I can have any real impact there. Also, it was sad to see my GitHub go down. Back to coding!» the hacker tweeted.
Resigned from Twitter today.
Appreciate the opportunity, but didn’t think there was any real impact I could make there. Besides, it was sad to see my GitHub withering. Back to coding! pic.twitter.com/Jbs9LxNB2K

Hotz offered his candidacy for the job on Twitter on November 16, after he supported the statement of new CEO Elon Musk that the company should be «extremely tough». In response to a tweet from a user who mocked him, Hotz said he wouldn’t mind working for 12 weeks at Twitter’s headquarters in San Francisco. Musk responded: «Let's talk about it.»
Two days later, on November 18, Hotz announced that he was officially working for Musk. Three days later, the hacker tweeted that the billionaire had instructed him to do two things: fix bugs related to the Twitter search engine and remove a pop-up that could appear when scrolling when the user is not yet logged in. He was indeed given 12 weeks to complete this work, but the hacker worked for less than half of the allotted time.
that’s what Elon told me my job was, and I will try my hardest to do it. I have 12 weeks
also trying to get rid of that nondismissable login pop up after you scroll a little bit ugh these things ruin the Internet https://t.co/vZbSfEqlfW

In recent days, Hotz hinted to his followers that he was considering leaving Musk. The hacker did not like the innovation of banning links to third-party social networks. However, Hotz assured that he was «still rooting for the success of Twitter 2.0».
Before he was fired, the hacker published a poll about his work on Twitter, which was similar to the recent poll from Elon Musk. However, users voted to keep Hotz on the platform, while Musk was asked to leave. However, it is already clear that the billionaire will not do so.
