Hackers from Russia attacked the Ukrainian company Starlink
Representatives of the Ukrainian Starlink LLC, which won the court of first instance against Elon Musk’s SpaceX, reported a massive cyberattack on the company’s resources. This became known through an announcement on Starlink’s official website.
«Dear partners! Since Friday, a massive DDOS attack has been launched against our company’s resources! Our experts and data center specialists managed to minimize the consequences of the attack as much as possible, but now it continues on a new vector,» said representatives of the Ukrainian Starlink.
As for where the hackers came from and what their intentions are, there is no need to guess — before the attack, Starlink’s management was offered «COOPERATION» in the form of a certain amount of money in cryptocurrency in an ultimatum. «We have not negotiated with them and will not negotiate with them! We are doing everything possible to ensure that the effect of the attack is zero. Glory to Ukraine ,» the company emphasized.
The Ukrainian brand Starlink has been around for a long time. The founder of the company is Serhiy Dulitsky. He explained that his company has been providing IT services under the StarLink brand for over 14 years. Starlink LLC itself, according to the YouControl register, started operating in 2009. In turn, a subsidiary of the American Starlink appeared in Ukraine only in April 2022. It is called Starlink Ukraine LLC.
Since last year, the American tech giant has been demanding that the trademark registration of the Ukrainian company, whose name coincides with the name of the SpaceX subsidiary, be terminated. The court sided with the Ukrainians. An interesting detail is that Musk probably used the services of Russian lawyers in the lawsuit. In early March, Dulitsky suggested that the office of the law firm that negotiated on behalf of SpaceX was located in Moscow. The Starlink owner also emphasized the professional incompetence of the intermediaries and their lack of understanding of the Ukrainian company’s activities. Ultimately, the negotiations led to nothing and ended in a court hearing.
