Hackers hacked the Twitter account of the cryptocurrency exchange CoinDCX, aiming to steal cryptocurrency from users
Cryptocurrency hackers have hacked into the Twitter account of the Indian cryptocurrency exchange CoinDCX, with the aim of publishing phishing links to steal users' digital assets.
A few hours after the exchange’s page was hacked, CoinDCX’s security team discovered the exploit and advised users not to follow any links from the alleged exchange. To make their posts with phishing links more believable, the hackers reposted the posts of Ripple Labs director Brad Garlinghouse, attaching fraudulent links to them.
By clicking on the link, users risk losing their cryptocurrency savings. If the representatives are unable to restore access to the official CoinDCX page in the near future, the cryptocurrency wallets of 230,000 Twitter followers of the exchange, who are currently potential victims of fraudsters, will be at risk.It is worth noting that attacking the Twitter accounts of well-known companies to post phishing links has become a common scheme of crypto fraudsters. A week ago, hackers hacked the Twitter account of the Nigerian Business Day news outlet and published an announcement of a digital asset giveaway on behalf of the largest bitcoin owner, MicroStrategy CEO Michael Saylor. And in early September, a similar situation occurred with the Brazilian representative of the international consulting company PwC, a member of the Big Four, when the company’s Twitter account was hacked to post phishing links with an alleged XRP token giveaway.
