Hackers hacked into a famous digital artist’s Twitter account and stole more than $ 150,000 from his fans
Hackers have hacked the Twitter account of the famous Korean digital artist and animator Dikey Kwon and posted a phishing link on his page to «get exclusive NFTs» — the attackers managed to steal more than $ 150,000.
The post, posted by the fraudsters on behalf of Dikey Kwon, urged the artist’s followers to follow the phishing link to receive «new exclusive non-fungible tokens of Dikey». The fans were also pressured by the limited number of NFTs — only 1000 tokens, which «only the lucky ones will have time to get». After clicking on the phishing link, users were encouraged to click on the «transaction confirmation» link, after which the hackers gained access to the victims' wallets — a total of 65 NFTs were stolen.
Later, about 5 hours after the hacker attack, Dikey Kwon was able to regain access to his account and apologize for the «incident.» «I have my account back. I apologize for this unfortunate event and sincerely thank everyone who helped inform others.»
This is not the only incident of a hacker attack on a digital artist’s account to steal subscribers' money. At the end of May, hackers hacked the account of the world’s most popular digital artist Mike Winkelman (Beeple) and stole half a million dollars from NFT users. At the time, the attacker posted information with a phishing link to a fake raffle in collaboration with Louis Vuitton. When users clicked on the link, they lost their crypto assets.
