Hackers break into database of Russian official who abducted Ukrainian children
Activists of the Ukrainian IT group Cyber Resistance have announced a «global hacking of the data of the Russian Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights, Maria Lvova-Belova. According to research by the Conflict Observatory (an American non-governmental organization that analyzes and publishes evidence of Russian war crimes and other atrocities during the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022), the official plays a leading role in organizing the abduction and «re-education» of children from Ukraine.
In support of the hack, the hackers posted scans of the passports of Maria Lvova-Belova, her husband, and her immediate family. The hackers also obtained numerous correspondences, information about Lvivova-Belova's business interests and other private data, which they plan to use as leverage against the criminal.
«We have a new exhibit in the museum — Maria Lvova-Belova,» the Cyber Resistance telegram channel said. — «The woman is committing genocide against an entire generation of Ukrainians because she steals our children. And we are stealing her data, which will help bring the occupier to justice and return the children to Ukraine.»
The father of the Russian official, Alexei Lvov-Belov, an honored cultural worker of the Russian Federation, praised the work of Ukrainian cyber activists and wrote an angry post on the Russian social network VKontakte.
However, the post was quickly removed, and Lvov-Belov's page disappeared. «We hacked his daughter, and he got hacked by watching Russian media,» the Cyber Resistance joked.
As a reminder, Ukrainian hackers recently attacked the Russian customs system. The cyberattack by IT activists led to malfunctions in the electronic declaration system and blocked the customs clearance of goods from the terrorist state. At the same time, Ukrainians from the NLB group reported the hacking of the largest bank in the occupying country, Sberbank. According to the hackers, they managed to download many databases from services that are part of the Sberbank ecosystem, as well as internal developer chats.
