Hackers hacked the Twitter of cryptocurrency exchange Gate. io
Cybersecurity experts PeckShieldAlert reported that unknown persons posted a phishing ad on the hacked Twitter account of the Gate. io exchange.
In their message, the hackers promised that the first 1,000 users who connect their cryptocurrency wallet via a link leading to a phishing copy of the Gate. io website would allegedly receive $ 500,000 in USDT.
The number of victims affected by the phishing attack and the amount of money stolen by the attackers are still unknown.
At the time of writing, access to Twitter has been restored and all phishing links have been removed from the page.
This type of hacking has become extremely popular in recent years — recently, hackers from the Lazarus group tried to hack Japanese cryptocurrency projects in this way.
