Elon Musk allowed Twitter developers to sleep at work
The social network published a photo of a Twitter manager sleeping on the floor in the company’s office as employees try to meet the deadlines set by the platform’s new owner, Elon Musk.
Twitter’s director of product management, Esther Crawford, was photographed wrapped in a sleeping bag — sandwiched between a desk and several chairs — with a sleeping mask pulled over her eyes under the fluorescent lighting of the office.

«When your team is working around the clock to meet deadlines, sometimes you sleep on the job,» Crawford ironically tweeted.
Twitter employees anonymously complain about Elon Musk because they have to work literally 24/7. Earlier, the billionaire gave the developers an ultimatum: they should visit the office and forget about remote work (although previous CEOs of the platform tolerated it).
on November 16, Elon Musk sent another ultimatum to his employees. According to a recent email received by the developers, they must be «extremely tough» and commit to «working long hours with high intensity.» However, the billionaire wanted to give up sole control of Twitter. «I plan to reduce my time on Twitter and find someone else to run the platform,» the owner of Tesla and SpaceX recently said.
The eccentric entrepreneur said that he expects a «fundamental organizational restructuring» to be completed at Twitter. Musk also hinted that some Tesla engineers were involved in the platform, although he clarified that it was on a volunteer basis and for a short time. It seems that Musk has a peculiar sense of time and voluntary involvement of people in various unrelated projects.
It should be added that the Twitter community was outraged by the fact that the platform’s employees were forced to sleep at the workplace, so top manager Esther Crawford even had to defend Musk’s corporate policy:
I work with amazingly talented & ambitious people here at Twitter and this is not a normal moment in time. We are less than 1wk into a massive business & cultural transition. People are giving it their all across all functions: product, design, eng, legal, finance, marketing, etc

«Since some people are losing their minds, I’ll explain: doing hard things requires sacrifice (time, energy, etc.),» Crawford wrote in a tweet.
