Chipper Cash CEO Hem Serunjogi addressed Musk on Twitter, saying he would be happy to donate money for Starlink so that schools and hospitals in Uganda could get access to satellite communications.
«Just installed Starlink and am impressed with the speed and ease of setup. I’m most excited about its potential to provide internet access in remote rural areas where there is no infrastructure. I would be happy to donate to make Starlink available in schools and hospitals in Uganda,» Serunjog wrote, tagging Musk.
The billionaire responded to the offer by asking users if they would donate money to Starlink. Later, he confirmed that such a feature would appear on the platform, but did not name specific dates.
Earlier, billionaire Elon Musk’s SpaceX company asked the US Department of Defense to pay for satellite Internet services in Ukraine, which is provided by Starlink terminals. However, Musk later said that he would continue to provide Starlink satellite communications in Ukraine for free. «To hell with it… Even though Starlink is still losing money and other companies are getting billions of dollars from taxpayers, we will continue to fund the Ukrainian government for free,» the businessman tweeted.
