Elon Musk agrees with EU regulatory policy on the future of the Internet
As you know, the EU has now finished working on the Digital Services Act, a document that will start regulating most of the things we are used to on the Internet. And Elon Musk agrees with most of these proposals — this became known thanks to a post by European Commissioner Thierry Brenton on Twitter.
The DSA is a comprehensive document developed in the EU to make the Internet of the future better (according to the authors of the document). It will regulate the need to create algorithms for searching for illegal content, hateful content against social groups of people, and so on. But not only that — for example, it will describe the need to design interfaces in such a way that they cannot mislead people. It’s a noble cause, but with such proposals we may end up with identical websites on the Internet where everyone says the same thing just because it’s the only way to do it.
The new law also has a lot of useful things. The new rules also prohibit IT companies such as Amazon, Google, and Meta from using sensitive information such as age, gender, race, religious and political views to display targeted ads.
Surprisingly, Elon Musk agrees with this future, admitting in a video that he sees a similar solution to the problems of Internet platforms (including crypto exchanges). At the same time, he stated that if necessary, his companies will help in any way they can. What is this about?
