Elon Musk presented the concept of Twitter 2.0 with message encryption

10:33 pm, November 22, 2022

During a meeting with Twitter employees, the new owner of the social network, billionaire Elon Musk, presented the concept of Twitter 2.0. The main innovation is the introduction of message encryption.

According to the Twitter 2.0 concept, the company will work on encrypting messages and add the ability to send encrypted videos and make voice calls. «We want users to be able to communicate without worrying about their privacy and their data being stolen from Twitter. We want users to stop thinking that someone on Twitter might be spying on them ,» Elon Musk emphasized.

The head of Twitter recalled how in 2018 a certain number of messages between companies and their customers were available to outsiders. And in early 2022, the US government accused a former Twitter employee of hacking user data. Elon Musk emphasized that work on the confidentiality of users' private messages would be a priority.

Message encryption is one of the few changes in the social network that has been positively received by users. Not everyone likes Musk’s innovations: the Blue subscription fee with an account verification checkbox, the dismissal of 75% of employees, the refusal to launch a crypto wallet, the introduction of paid videos, and others. Even the father of Ethereum is using other social networks to find an alternative to Twitter. The ETH developer has already registered on Telegram, Reddit, Farcaster, and Mastodon.

As for the verification fee, Vitalik Buterin agreed to pay Twitter $ 8 per month. However, there is one condition: the founder of ETN will do this after the verification fee becomes available for operating systems other than iOS.
