Elon Musk was used for a large cryptocurrency theft fraud operation

Last night, a user under the nickname corp_7760 launched a broadcast on the Twitch streaming platform, announcing that Elon Musk had decided to give away 5,000 bitcoins and 50,000 airtime.

In support of this, the screen showed a «live broadcast with Musk (actually just an old interview)» and a tweet on his behalf in which Elon talks about this giveaway.

To participate, all you had to do was go to the scammer’s website and «send Elon a certain amount of money in crypto,» and he would double it and return it.

It sounds like a typical scam with a promotion of accounts on Telegram channels. However, at its peak, the broadcast had 34 thousand simultaneous viewers, and it ranked 5th in terms of viewership among all Twitch broadcasts.

Of course, it was blocked, but how many people believed in this primitive fraud and how much money was transferred to the fraudsters is still unknown.
