Inferno Drainer cryptocurrency wallet hacking service is finally shutting down
One of the most popular crypto wallet hacking tools, Inferno Drainer, has announced its permanent closure.
In a message posted on November 26 on Telegram, the team of scammers said that «it's time to move on.» However, they promised that all files, servers, and infrastructure needed to run the malware will not be destroyed and will remain active so that users can «smoothly transition» to alternative services.
«Thank you to everyone who worked with us,» the crypto hackers wrote. — «We hope that you will remember us as the best tool that has ever existed and that we were able to help you in your quest to make money.»
They also deleted the affiliated Telegram account called «mr_inferno_drainer» that was used to provide the service and warned users to beware of other tools that may use their name in the future.
Inferno Drainer gained popularity in early 2023 and became even more famous after the Monkey Drainer tool was shut down. Like its counterparts, Inferno provided crypto wallet hacking software and received a commission of 20% of the amount stolen by users.
According to Web3 Scam Sniffer analytics, since February, the service has stolen almost $ 70 million from more than 100,000 victims. However, the Inferno Drainer team claims that the amount of stolen funds exceeds $ 80 million.
In its turn, blockchain security firm CertiK noted that Inferno Drainer was «one of the most destructive phishing tools» they have seen in their work.
