Spanish football club starts accepting cryptocurrencies as payment for tickets and goods
The Spanish club RCD Espanyol has become the first football club in the La Liga championship to start accepting cryptocurrencies to pay for tickets, branded merchandise, as well as drinks and food at matches.
For this purpose, the club has entered into a partnership agreement with Crypto Snack, a financial application. It has a native iGaming token called SNACK, which is traded on many major exchanges. Thanks to this, it will be possible to make a purchase using the main popular cryptocurrencies — both bitcoin and ethereum can be used as payment.
«With this step, we become pioneers in an area that is not just the future, but already the present,» said Mao Ye Wu, CEO of RCD Espanyol.
For his part, Crypto Snack CEO Stuart Morrison said that his company is honored to partner with one of the most popular football clubs in Spain. He believes that this initiative will provide Espanyol fans with «a fun and effective way to support their team using SNACK and other cryptocurrencies.»
