It became known how a cryptocurrency owner accidentally received more than $ 600,000

Cryptocurrency platform Rhino Trading has filed a lawsuit with the Supreme Court of Australia to block assets and detain a client who mistakenly received $ 653,000 in digital assets.

According to the statement of claim filed by Rhino Trading, the operator of the OTCPro trading platform, it became known that OTCPro received a deposit of AUD 99,500 from its client. The operator then credited the funds to its exchange account, but mistakenly added a zero to the credit amount.

As a result, the client’s trading account received 995,000 Australian dollars (over $ 653,000). It took OTCPro several weeks to notice the error. When the company was able to detect it and blocked the account, the client withdrew most of the assets by buying Tether (USDT) stablecoins in maximum tranches of $ 100,000.

Rhino Trading told the court that it had suffered total losses of about $ 500,000 and asked the authorities to take measures to track down the client, as well as to impose an injunction to prevent the user from leaving Australia. Preliminary investigations revealed that the registration of the trading account to which the erroneous transfer was made was carried out using forged documents.

In 2022, the Helium cryptocurrency project reported that due to an error in the Binance exchange’s settlement system, the Binance platform pomylkovo-rozdala-korystuvacham-tokeny-na-20-miljoniv-dolariv/«>accidentally credited users with HNT coins totaling $ 20 million. In the same year, one of the most popular crypto platforms in Australia, Crypto.com, accidentally sent $ 10.5 million to a client.
