Canadian developers presented a cryptocurrency wallet in the style of BlackBerry phones

6:14 pm, February 15, 2023

Hardware wallet developer Coinkite has introduced a new bitcoin storage device COLDCARD Q1 that looks like a BlackBerry phone. This became known from the company’s official website.

Hardware wallets are devices specially designed for the secure storage of private keys (the so-called cold storage of digital assets). They are considered more secure than wallets for computers or smartphones because they are never connected to the Internet.

According to the wallet’s developers, the new design reflects forward-thinking thinking about the toughest security measures and convenient features that customers have long expected. The QWERTY keyboard should help reduce errors when entering confidential passwords, PINs and passphrases.

This is Coinkite’s fifth hardware bitcoin wallet after the launch of the MK series in 2018. The latest model, COLDCARD MK4, was released in February 2022. The new wallet has an improved QR scanner that allows scanning QR codes and making transactions in any lighting conditions.

The exact size and detailed specifications of the Q1 will be known in the near future. For now, users can reserve the wallet by paying $ 199. It is expected that the retail price will not be much higher than the deposit amount.

In December, it was reported that Ledger/">Ledger had launched a new cryptocurrency wallet. The device is made in the format of a credit card with a large E link display, Bluetooth support, wireless charging, and a touch screen. However, unlike Coldcard, Ledger’s program code is closed.
