Frida Kahlo’s painting was turned into 10,000 NFTs and then destroyed

American entrepreneur Martin Mobarak has put up for sale NFT tokens with a reproduction of the Fantasmones Siniestros painting by the world-famous Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. However, collectors were not interested in the tokens, so Martin decided to draw attention to the auction in an absurd way — the millionaire destroyed the original painting.

For his plan, the businessman organized a party, which culminated in the destruction of Frida Kahlo’s artistic masterpiece. Morabak took the small painting out of its frame, put it in a martini glass and set it on fire. «I hope that everyone present will be able to understand this gesture and see something positive in it,» the author of the performance said.

Thus, the original work worth $ 10 million is lost forever. Instead, the entrepreneur offered to buy one of the 10,000 NFT copies. The businessman promised to donate the money to the Academy of Fine Arts in Mexico City. Morabak also promised to financially support the Frida Kahlo House Museum and several charitable foundations that take care of sick children.
