Kazakhstan is going to issue its digital currency at the end of the year
The National Bank of Kazakhstan is in no hurry to legalize cryptocurrencies, but is carefully studying the opportunities for profit from cryptocurrency technologies. This was announced at a press conference held today by Galymzhan Pirmatov, the head of the National Bank of Kazakhstan.
The official emphasized the attractiveness of the innovative potential of digital currencies (CDBC), but noted that they should be used in a way that does not harm the economy. According to Pirmatov, although it is too early to talk about the legalization of cryptocurrencies in the country, the National Bank is not going to ignore this market.
As for the introduction of the digital tenge, the National Bank is going to present a model and a plan for the implementation of the project itself by July 1, as previously planned. Pirmatov added that the final decision on the introduction of CBDC in accordance with this model will be made by the end of this year.
As a reminder, a recent study showed that 37% of respondents from different countries want to legalize cryptocurrencies.
