The number of cryptocurrencies in the world has exceeded 20,000

The leading online cryptocurrency rating CoinMarketCap currently has more than 20,000 types of coins. The number of cryptocurrencies presented on the site has increased 10 times since September 2018.

Bitcoin remains the undisputed king of cryptocurrencies, accounting for more than 42.4% of the total market capitalization.

According to Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao, the exchange has so far added only two percent of the assets available on CoinMarketCap to the list of supported ones.

Developers of new cryptocurrencies have to fill out a submission form and go through a verification process if they want their assets to be displayed in the world’s leading crypto ranking.

As a reminder, CoinMarketCap was acquired by Binance back in April 2020 for $ 400 million.
