Kim Kardashian accused of cryptocurrency fraud

3:05 pm, August 3, 2022

Kim Kardashian’s lawyers have filed a joint motion to dismiss a class action lawsuit against the American showgirl and businesswoman for promoting a crypto token that used the pump and dump method to popularize it.

In January 2022, a lawsuit was filed against Kardashian because the celebrity allegedly misled investors by promoting the EthereumMax (EMAX) cryptocurrency on social media. Fans of the star could purchase paid tickets for tokens, the number of which increased dramatically after Kardashian’s promotion. Instead, EthereumMax collapsed. Floyd Mayweather was also involved in the deal.

Kardashian’s legal team advocated the dismissal of 10 lawsuits filed against the influencer. The key point was Kardashian’s Instagram «stories»: «It is important that none of the named plaintiffs proves in their lawsuit that viewing Kardashian’s Instagram videos influenced their decision to buy tokens,» the lawyers emphasized.

The information that the influencers paid in ETH to promote EMAX turned out to be false. The lawyers cite the lack of evidence that Kardashian received financial compensation for her Instagram posts.

Kardashian’s legal team also noted that no evidence was provided that the star herself had ever bought, received, or sold tokens.
