Former Twitter CEO is working on a bitcoin mining system
Former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, who has long promoted the idea of a «free and open protocol,» has announced that he is working on a «Bitcoin Mining Development Kit» (MDK).
Dorsey has been planning to create an open-source bitcoin mining system since 2021, but only now has he announced that his company Block has started working on it. «Our goal is to provide developers with a set of tools that will help unleash creativity and bring innovation to the mining hardware industry,» Dorsey explained.
There is currently no information on the exact date of the project’s launch, but it is known that the MDK will include several customization tools: a hashing board, controller, firmware, auxiliary software, and documentation.
While the work on the BTC mining system has just begun, Dorsey’s decentralized social network Bluesky has already appeared in the App Store. However, it is currently available only to testers. Bluesky is based on the decentralized AT protocol, which is used by another Twitter competitor, the Mastodon social network. The decentralized protocol aims to limit corporate and government influence on social networks in general.
