Users of a closed cryptocurrency exchange broke into the company’s office and beat employees
Nigerian users of the cryptocurrency exchange AAX, which suspended withdrawals on November 12, reportedly stormed its offices in Lagos and began assaulting employees. Reports of disgruntled AAX users harassing crypto exchange employees came just days after a Nigerian cryptocurrency and blockchain value protection group asked them to refrain from doing so.
The angry crowd reportedly demanded that the moratorium on withdrawals, which came into effect on November 12, be lifted. At the same time, the cryptocurrency advocacy group urged not to do so, as local employees also have no connection with the headquarters in Hong Kong:
«We urge and dissuade anyone disgruntled or angry from harassing the AAX Regional Manager (Nigeria), other local staff and AAX representatives across the country. These people are also facing the same situation as disgruntled users and investors.»
As a reminder, representatives of the cryptocurrency exchange AAX, which recently stopped all operations with digital assets, deleted the platform’s official accounts on Youtube and Facebook. Everything indicates that AAX has gone bankrupt, and its owners have begun to cover their tracks.
