Ethereum cryptocurrency is ready to switch to the «green» blockchain next week
The developers of Ethereum (ETH) have confirmed the successful fulfillment of the prerequisites — the quality of the shadow forks required for the long-awaited blockchain update, called The Merge.
Shadow forks help developers conduct stress testing to ensure that the network is secure during ongoing updates. In light of The Merge, Ethereum developers implemented the first shadow fork on April 11, 2022.
Almost six months later, Ethereum research and engineering company Nethermind confirmed that the network’s transition to Mainnet-Shadowfork-13 (the latest shadowfork) was successful, signaling that the network is ready to move to the Proof-of-Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism.
The test network allowed Ethereum developers to practice launching nodes, deploying contracts, and testing infrastructure. As part of the upgrade, the community needs to update its Ethereum nodes, which is currently experiencing some problems — the community is not keeping up with the developers' actions.
It is not known whether this problem will affect the transition to the green blockchain next week. However, we will keep you updated.
