Cryptocurrency Ethereum has a chance to outperform Visa in terms of performance

4:02 pm, October 10, 2022

According to ConsenSys analyst David Shuttleworth, the transition of the Ethereum cryptocurrency to the PoS consensus mechanism will allow ETH to outperform the Visa payment system in the future. Shuttleworth is convinced that Ethereum has not only retained its status as one of the leading blockchains in the crypto sphere but also strengthened its position.

In an interview with Kitko News, David Shuttleworth stated that Ethereum will be able to process more transactions per second than Visa. According to the analyst, after the activation of The Merge, conditions were created for the mass adoption of the blockchain and its underlying asset, ether. Shuttleworth is against the monopolization of the crypto sphere. According to him, the market should have a large number of blockchains that will compete with each other, and users will be able to choose the most optimal network.

«I am not an ethereum maximalist. I am a supporter of a market with many blockchains. However, I am convinced that Ethereum will become more productive than Visa. I think that due to its level of security, people will be able to use Ethereum to do business,» David Shuttleworth shared his opinion.

As for the Visa payment system, last week it became known about its cooperation with the FTX exchange and the gradual launch of the Visa cryptocurrency debit card in more than 40 countries in Latin America, Europe, and Asia. It is expected that residents of Spanish and Portuguese-speaking countries in the Americas will be the first to receive FTX cards, followed by Europe by the end of 2022, and Asia later.
