Cryptocurrency exchange Binance will train law enforcement officers to search for cybercriminals

Representatives of the cryptocurrency exchange Binance have announced the launch of an educational program for law enforcement officers that will teach them how to find cybercriminals. According to Binance, the project will be managed by the Binance Investigations team, and the new program will include trainings, seminars, and lectures.

According to Binance representatives, consumer protection is a top priority for the exchange, so the platform will do everything possible to fight hacking and cyberterrorism. Last year alone, the Binance Investigations team held more than 30 workshops to find cybercriminals around the world. «We work hand-in-hand with law enforcement to track suspicious accounts and transactions, contributing to the fight against terrorist financing, child pornography, and other crimes,» said Tigran Ghambaryan, Head of Intelligence and Investigations at Binance.

The course from Binance Investigations includes seminars, lectures, and trainings in various areas: anti-money laundering, security when using cryptocurrencies, blockchain concept, and many other topics. Law enforcers are promised to be provided with not only theoretical knowledge but also practical knowledge by sharing Binance’s own experience in investigating cybercrime.

Perhaps law enforcement will learn more about how Binance managed to recover most of the funds stolen from Curve Finance in August, amounting to about $ 450,000. Or how the exchange helped find hackers who stole more than $ 200,000 in just 24 hours. In early September, Binance’s cybersecurity team managed to identify the hackers who hacked the external interface of the non-custodial exchange KyberSwap. «We have provided information to the Kyber team and are coordinating with law enforcement,» Changpeng Zhao said at the time.
