Cryptocurrency exchange Bitpanda may have been hacked
Yesterday, on August 10, cryptocurrency analysts from Cyvers Alerts recorded a suspicious transaction on the Bitpanda platform. $ 73 million in SHIB, LINK, CHZ, and ETH tokens were transferred to the address 0x2E78BD8604996418F5d306cE3176D3Fc43289103. Experts speculated that one of the most famous cryptocurrency exchanges in Europe was probably hacked.
However, the site’s administrator later said on the crypto exchange’s Telegram channel that it was an internal transfer and that users' assets were safe.
«We are conducting planned internal asset transfers within our Custody infrastructure, which will also affect Pantos and BEST token wallets. We assure you that these are purely internal actions that will not affect users. Your assets remain safe. Thank you for your trust and continued support,» the Bitpanda representative said.
It is worth noting that this year in May, Bitpanda entered into a partnership with the Coinbase crypto exchange. The goal is to encourage European banks to offer customers to buy digital assets.
According to the platform’s COO Lucas Enzersdorfer-Conrad, despite the crisis in the cryptocurrency industry, banks still want to be able to offer cryptocurrency to customers. The top manager believes that this is especially true in Europe now that the European Parliament has approved the draft law on the regulation of cryptocurrencies in the European Union (MiCA), which allows setting clear standards for the industry and protecting cryptocurrency investors. As part of the partnership, Coinbase will use Bitpanda Technology Solutions' infrastructure to directly connect users to banks and fintech companies.
Bitpanda also announced that the company is going to invest $ 10 million in the creation of a special unit for artificial intelligence development. The platform, which will be called Bitpanda. ai, will focus on creating and providing modern products based on cryptocurrency investments and neural network development.
